Elevate Diverse Voices Scholarship Program

Educare Publications established the Elevate Diverse Voices Scholarship Program for college students who aspire to become self-published authors and recognize the importance of diverse books and incorporating these diverse books into schools, libraries, and educational organizations. Educare Publications will award a 2022 Fall semester scholarship of  $500.00 to a college student who aspires to write and publish a diverse book containing characters of color and main characters representing a minority point of view.

Requirements: This is a United States-based scholarship, so the applicant must be an undergraduate college student currently enrolled at a higher education institution in the United States. Undergraduate college students of color of all ages are encouraged to apply. Submit one 800-word essay on this year's 2022 theme: "Why is it important to feel seen when reading?"

Who is considered a student of color? College students who identify as Black or African-American, Latinx, Asian, Native American, or a combination of these racial identities.

Applications open April 9, 2022, at 9 a.m. CST and close on July 9, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. CST. There are no requirements for spending your scholarship money. However, we encourage the scholarship recipient to use it on education and living expenses. The winner will be announced on our blog and social media on Monday, August 15, 2022.

Educare Publication launched the Elevate Diverse Voices Scholarship Program because we understand the need for diverse books in schools, libraries, and educational groups. Diverse literature can serve as mirrors and windows into a wide range of human emotions and experiences, fostering community, increasing empathy, and combating intolerance and prejudice. In the classroom, diverse books can assist all children in finding books that they can read and connect with on some level while validating their own cultural identities and learning important insights about others. We want to change the world and make it so that every child can see themselves in a book, and we want to elevate diverse voices who are publishing diverse books.

Application Closes July 9, 2022
